MON KISS

MONKISS is a short film house based in Brussels. We shoot grain, accidental light and stories that fit on a single reel.

Super 8 at heart, digital in the toolkit: we keep the texture of amateur cinema to tell stories differently.

MONKISS workshop — light table and reels

Our story

It started around a too-small editing table and a too-loud projector. Since then we produce, mentor and circulate shorts that put gaze before format.

Between Brussels, Antwerp and Liège we work in FR / NL / EN — because Belgian sets speak several languages, and so do our films.

Film set — evening light

What guides us

  • Grain before perfection: embrace the useful accident.

  • Tight crews : few people, a lot of listening.

  • Stories that feel rooted: real places, local voices, slow time.

  • Post-production as writing, not as rescue.

  • Distribution: festivals, partner venues, public screens.

How we move

  1. Intent & moodboard — lock the final image before the schedule.

  2. Short writing — ten pages max, one clear tension.

  3. Scouting & light tests — Super 8 or sensor, we choose the texture.

  4. Focused shoot — a few days, chamber tempo.

  5. Edit & release — cut, mix, festival packs, screenings.

“We are not looking for the perfect shot. We are looking for the shot that stays after the lights go out.”

On set

Super 8 camera and cartridge

Whether film or digital, a MONKISS set stays the same: little gear, lots of attention to silence, hands, windows. We prefer one good hour of natural light to three lamps too many.
